PROJECT HISTORY
In the development of the Leisure Centre Project, a number of key approvals/milestones have been completed and are summarized below:
April 2008 - Civic Centre Master Plan Presentation to Council
June 2008 - Civic Centre Master Plan Public Information Session
August 2008 – Salter Pilon Architecture of Barrie, Ontario hired as primary consultant on project
February 2009 – Government of Canada and Government of Ontario announce financial support of the BWG Leisure Centre in the amount of $16.4 M
March 2009 – Schematic Design Approved at Town Council
August 2009 – SiteWorks Tender awarded to John Bravakis Enterprises Ltd.
October 2009 - Ground Breaking Ceremony held with Library Project
March 2010 – Tender for Leisure Centre construction awarded to Aquicon
May to August 2010 – Excavation/foundation work ongoing
